If I see something interesting, I shoot from the driver's seat or jump out & set up the tripod for a quick click. It's the drive-by life of a photographer on the move. Welcome to my world.

More from After the rain in Columbia, TN

Columbia, TN DSC_0270_B

The backs of buildings are many times far more interesting than the fronts they present to us. You see the hidden world these buildings keep to themselves. The deep, dark secrets they don't want you to know.

So I took this photo and it turned out pretty good. But as I'm doing the post-processing, I realize something. Living most of my life in gritty Detroit, what I saw in this photo was surprising. Do you see it?

There's no trash, no over-filled dumpster. That fence itself would catch paper and fast food wrappings as they blew through the parking lot. But no litter. It's clean in Columbia, Tennessee.

Here's another shot taken 90 degrees from the first.
